A Letter to Mia
Dear Mia,
You are my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. You are the part of me that can reach out into the sea. I have told you a thousand times over that you are my reason for being; by the way you rest against my leg; by the way you thump your tail at my smallest smile; by the way you show your hurt when I leave without taking you. I think it makes me sick with worry when you are not along to care for me. When I am wrong, you are delighted to forgive. When I am angry, you clown to make me smile. When I am happy, you joy unbounded. When I am a fool, you ignore it. When I succeed, you brag. Without you, I am only another man. With you, I am all-powerful. You are loyalty itself. You have taught me the meaning of devotion. With you, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. You have brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. your head on my knee can heal my human hurt.Your presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. You have promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need you. And I expect I will - as I always have you. You are my Mia,you are my life.
